Messi wins a new award for the first time

On Monday, Argentine Lionel Messi, the Inter Miami striker, won his first award as Player of the Week in the American League.

This came after his goal and assists, which contributed to his team’s victory over Sporting Kansas City (3-2), in front of 72,610 fans, last Saturday.

Messi saved Inter Miami at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs team, affiliated with the American Football League, which opened its doors for the traditional Major League Soccer match, in order to meet the huge demand for tickets to watch the Argentine star.

Last Saturday, Messi became the first player in the American League to score at least 5 goals and 5 assists in his first 5 matches of the season.

With Messi's coronation, Inter Miami won the Player of the Tour award in 3 out of 8 weeks this season, after Uruguayan Luis Suarez won it in the third and fifth rounds.

Inter Miami shares the lead in the American League in the Eastern Conference, with the New York Red Bulls, who played one match less.
