Manchester City sweeps Luton and returns to the top

Manchester City achieved a valuable victory over its guest Luton Town (5-1) at Etihad Stadium, today, Saturday, in the 33rd round of the English Premier League.

Man City took the lead with an own goal scored by Daiki Hashioka (2nd s) before Mateus Kovacic, Erling Haaland, Jeremy Doku and Jusko Gvardiol scored the rest of the goals (64th, 76th, 87th and 90+3), while Ross Barkley scored Luton's only goal (81st s).

With this result, Man City temporarily jumped to the top of the standings by reaching point 73, while Luton Town remained in the relegation zone, occupying eighteenth place with 25 points.

One minute was enough for De Bruyne to send a through pass towards Haaland, who was alone on goal but shot the ball into goalkeeper Tomas Kaminski's position.

The ball bounced to Doku, who dribbled and shot it, but the defense blocked it valiantly, and it bounced back to Haaland, who met it with a flying shot, hitting Hashioka in the face and then into the net, giving City the first goal through friendly fire.

Gvardiol decided to emulate his goal against Real Madrid recently, with a powerful shot with his right, but Kaminsky was waiting for it.

The visitors' goalkeeper returned to defend his goal by again blocking a shot fired by Nunez.

Haaland missed the opportunity for a certain goal after he met a perfect cross from the right side, with a quick touch, so that the ball went over the crossbar.

Gvardiol rose to a perfect cross from De Bruyne, directing a header that went wide of the goal before the post deprived Matthews Nunez of a second goal for the hosts after a powerful low shot from inside the penalty area.

Before the end of regular time, Luton's goalkeeper stood in front of a powerful shot fired by De Bruyne from outside the penalty area, which eventually turned into a corner.

While City's deluge continued towards Kaminsky's goal, Luton could not threaten the hosts with any opportunity until the end of the first half, with the Celestial team leading (1-0).

The beginning of the second half was calm, with the first opportunity coming after 7 minutes from a shot fired by Ruben Diaz on the edge of the penalty area, but the ball passed near the left post.

Kaminsky then stood in the way of De Bruyne's shot, before Diaz returned to threatening the visitors' goal with a wonderful shot that passed near the left post again.

Kovacic tried his luck with a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball hit a defender and turned into a corner.

Kovacic redeemed himself immediately afterward with a second goal for the Citizens after he met a ball inside the area with a strong shot on the bird, which landed inside the net.

By the 66th minute, Luton reached City's goal with the first shot through Woodrow, who met a ground cross with a lightning kick, and his ball hit the crossbar, wasting the opportunity to reduce.

Doko was able to get a penalty kick after being blocked by Onyindinma, from which Haaland scored the third goal for the hosts.

Ederson saved his goal with a wonderful save on Woodrow's low shot, and the ball rebounded to substitute Impanzo, who directed a shot into the outside net.

Nunez committed a fatal mistake by losing the ball in front of the penalty area, so Barkley retrieved it before dodging Diaz and then fired a creeping shot that went past the Brazilian goalkeeper.

After penetrating from the left side of the Luton penalty area, Doku wanted to put the ball into the far right corner, but it deviated from the target and went over the goal.

Doku tried again in the same way, but this time he succeeded in finding the net with a creeping low shot, strengthening the home team's lead with a fourth goal.

In stoppage time, Gvardiol found the ball in front of him inside the penalty area, and shot it with his right force, into Kaminsky's net, concluding City's five-man win.
